Apple iPad mini Wi-Fi Review

In October 2012 tablet markets around the world were stunned on the launch of Apple iPad mini. Users who were attracted to Samsung Galaxy tabs, Google Nexus or Dell Streak etc were turned to towards Apple iPad mini. As size does matter, this smaller body and light weight slate is quiet exquisite in looks. Not some out of the world to be expected but carry the same design. All aluminum body felt really good in hand and its light weight makes it easier to carry around. Apple iPad mini features the similar UI but with a slight enhancement to fit on 7.9 inches screen. If we compare Apple iPad mini to Apple iPad 4 then its sure lacks on different features due to size but still it has good potential. If we compare the market competition Apple iPad mini will be facing huge competition. Android based Tablets are not only offered by other major brand but also offered from different unbranded manufacturer as well.

Apple IPad mini features great built quality with its small body. It powered by Apple A5 Dual Core chipset. All your applications, games, multimedia runs great as Apple promise. Wi-Fi experience will be noticeable as Apple iPad mini hold a dual band capability to deliver the best performance. Apple iOS 6 works great on Apple iPad mini we find it very simple and very easy to manage. Display felt very nice and clear, can be said a bit less in resolution as compare to iPad 4 but still great to visibility. Apple iPad mini features a great 5MP Camera which delivers the best image quality. It also has a 1.5 MP front camera for video calls and video chats. For continue run Apple iPad mini comes with a good battery backup, it last for about 10 hours on normal usage which is quiet sufficient.

Lastly, one thing we like about Apple iPad mini is it’s availability in both cellular and non cellar models. Users who are just looking for a tablet will get a non-cellular iPad mini or users who are using iPod touch can get an upgraded Apple device.

Apple iPad mini is constructed with aluminum body which makes durable. Its small size makes it easier to handle with just one hand. Users can use their thumbs to swipe menus while holding it in same hand. Apple iPad mini design is same as the traditional shapes hold by Apple devices. There is not much to find as new innovation but it sure is very slim and light to carry. Apple iPad mini weights around 311g which is quiet less in weight.

Front side to Apple iPad mini has front face camera on upper side to screen and lower side holds the traditional Menu/Back button. On the back side it has the main camera and Apple logo. Top side on Apple iPad mini has lock button and the 3.5mm audio jack as all Apple devices. Right side has the volume button and a switch which can be use to lock screen rotation. On the lower side of Apple iPad mini there is a new lightening connector and two speakers grill.

Overall Apple kept the iPad mini very decent and clean with simplicity in mind. It is available in both black and white colors but we find black to be a finger prints reflected and need constant cleaning.

Apple iPad mini has a power full Apple A5 Dual-core Cortex-A9 chipset with 1GHz speed. It never let users down no matter how long it’s used. All the applications response rapid and execute fast. Multi tasking is great we didn’t find any delay/lack in multi-touch and swipes. Web browsing felt very good as page rendering is very quick and web pages seem decently clear with images and text. For application installation and capacity Apple iPad mini comes with a 512MB of RAM and it supports well with the Cortex-A9 chipset.

Apple iPad mini has a very decent screen size for a compact body. With a 7.9 inch IPS LCD display it delivers 4:3 aspect ratio screen with 162ppi density and screen resolution is 1024 x 768 pixels. As compare to iPad 4 it less but similar or a bit sharper than iPad 2. Menus and application seems great and we didn’t find any disappointment. Watching movies, videos and multimedia gaming is more fun on Apple iPad mini as it equipped with a dual-core Power SGX543 graphics chip.

Screen visibility is clear and bright but it becomes challenging in sunlight. Screen is very reflecting and finger prints reflect on it very often, maybe it’s due to the oleophobic coating on its scratch-resistant glass. Overall, there is no such difficulty noticed while we test it for continues usage. Display quality is good and screen size is perfect.

One of the significant features of Apple iPad mini is the camera. It has an amazing 5MP camera with a powerful resolution of 2592x1944 pixels. Camera features and quiet simple and offers Auto focus and face detection. For the image quality Apple iPad mini delivers a good quality images. We can’t say it can replace your digital camera but it sure takes very good details, colors and bright quality images.

Apple iPad mini also capture great motion picture and comes very handy for video capturing. It records videos with 1080p quality at 30 frames per seconds. Audio quality and video are sync perfectly we didn’t find any lack between both. Apple iPad mini camera delivers good performance for users who love to capture home and family events videos.

Apple iPad mini offers the same iOS 6 with more simplified icon setting and menus. This time “Siri” the talking assistant function is smarter, it supports multiple languages and its searching capabilities are more accurate and specific. Find a restaurant or motel is easier and this time Siri can also help users to place their booking and reservations. No matter what you do or how you multi touch or swipe Siri will be instructing users and everything seems fun. One thing we miss is the freedom of application on Apple iPad mini due to iOS 6 limitations. Users who are more found of Android OS may not be attractive to iPad mini.

Social media applications work great on Apple iPad mini. Typing and texting is very swift, sharing via social apps or image uploading is quiet fast. Internet browsing experience is very pleasing with its 7.9 inch screen size. On continues usage we didn’t find any slower performance or lacking while browsing and multitasking. Beside that Apple iPad mini also have iCloud support, good storage capacity which comes in 16, 32 and 64GB built in. it is also available in both Cellular and without cellular models. For longer run Apple iPad mini comes with a Standard Li-Po battery which gives 10hours of talk time.

After continue usage first thing to be notice is the display quality if we compare Apple iPad mini to other competitive device then it lacks on resolution quality. We were expecting higher display quality. Applications are restricted to iTunes and also cost users for downloads. For quick external data we miss the memory card slot and there is no standard USB for easy connectivity with personal computer or laptops. Lastly, Apple iPad mini requires constant cleaning in black color. It becomes finger print magnet and looks messy on frequent swipes and touch.

For Apple iPad and slate design table users Apple’s iPad mini opens a new dimension. Its sure is very comfortable to carry and very easy to use. For users who are irritated with the large tablet size may find this small Apple device very attractive. And one of the best options is the choice between Apple iPad mini cellular and non cellular model. Users who want to switch from their existing smart phone and want to get a fresh phone then Apple iPad mini becomes a good option.

Apple iPad mini is currently available in a price range of 429$ to 600$, all price tags are 30$ less for non cellular models. It also depends on the regional markets and their demands and indirectly affecting its current price. Overall, we strongly recommend Apple iPad mini to user who are looking for a tablet with compact size and also give positive mark to users who are interested to explore new smart phone experience.
