Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III Review

Introduction

Since the launch of Samsung Galaxy S III in May 2012, smart phones consumers were not expecting Samsung to be the ruling brand. Not even the competitors (HTC, Apple, Sony, LG) expecting anything like Galaxy S III from Korean innovators. From its release to the present, no other smart phone to offers such features to challenge. Though we were expecting Samsung Galaxy S III to be similar as the HTC One but Galaxy S III is way ahead of the other high end smart phones.

With Galaxy S III, Samsung proved its innovations and state of the art technology. It's a perfect blend of powerful processing and features that gives users a new sensation on every touch and swipe. The most significant feature is the Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen, an eye-candy to anyone who looks at it. Beside its beautiful HD screen Samsung offers 1.4 GHz Quad-Core Cortex-A9 CPU, faster than the HTC One which holds the slot of fastest smart phone before Galaxy S III. This energy efficient processing chip gives more battery life than any other smart phone. None the less it has an improved 8 MP smart HD camera with auto focus and LED Flash. Beside this a long battery life and amazing performance of Samsung S III in a 6.8mm slim body is impressive.

Performance

Samsung Galaxy S III offers the fastest smart phone experience at present. With 1.4 GHz quad-core Cortex-A9 CPU Galaxy S III will keep you in top gears while you are shooting HD videos or taking family photos with its 8MP smart camera. Quad-core keeps the weight of multimedia usage at ease with its less energy consumption. Even editing the office documents or using your favorite android app Galaxy S III will keeps you on the edge. As compare to iPhone 4s and LG Optimus 3D, Galaxy S III is way ahead in performance. Internet browsing is as smooth as your using your laptop or desktop but may depend on your service provide as well. If we only compare the processing speed of Samsung Galaxy S III with “HTC One” as it loaded with a Quad-Core Krait Chipset which is faster than Cortex-A9. But this gap is not even noticeable while Galaxy S III performs.

Design

Samsung Galaxy S III is body and design is impressive. The noticeable point is its slim design and perfect hand fit curve. No wonder it’s a slight upgrade of Samsung Galaxy S II but bigger in size. Built is all plastic but we didn’t find it looks less or a cheap end smart phone. If Samsung offer Galaxy S III in metal body with same slim body then it can add more character to this top end smart phone. The only physical button is the main menu button, placed on lower end of the screen. Two captive touch buttons for Home screen and Back as present on the Galaxy S II international version. It has volume rocker on the side and 3.5mm audio jack on the top for listening music or hands free. We miss the dedicated camera key on Samsung Galaxy S III. We don’t think that this could be a big disappointment to the buyers.

Display

Samsung Galaxy S III has achieved the top ranking to be the world’s best display smart phone. It offers most vibrant screen resolution with its 4.8" Super AMOLED of HD resolution. With its 720P HD resolution screen can be seem from distance without any blur or color fading. We love the ripple effect when home screen is touch. The slogan of Samsung Galaxy S III "Design for Humans" is felt so right when we start touching the screen. The 4.8" screen size is quiet spacious for scrolling up and down or swiping menus from any angle. The heart and soul behind the 16M-color Super AMOLED resolution is the “Mali-400 MP” GPU chip and the powerful Quad-Core processing. Comparing Galaxy S III resolution with competitors, Samsung takes the lead with its 3.41 contras, HTC One S has 2.90 contras and Nokia N9 has 3.06 contras. Means other smart phones are far behind what Samsung Galaxy S III offers.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy S III is packed with improved 8 MP Camera which contains the features such as Auto focus, LED Flash. Once you turn on the camera and take a photo it will detect smile and blink for best results. Beside photo capture ability Samsung Galaxy S III also gives users freedom from carrying their handy cam. It offers 1080p HD video recording at 30 frames per seconds. Secondary camera is also present with 2MP resolution which is great for video calling or taking self portraits etc.

OS Platform & Other Features

Samsung Galaxy S III comes with Android OS v4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich with Samsung TouchWiz launcher. It has the same a user friendly interface as we seen on the Galaxy S II but this time is better with its interface and menus. Galaxy S III not only enhanced the freedom of android application but also gives a new feeling to its users. Setting of application with countless option on short cuts and arrangements as per user likes and wants are one of the humanly attitude of Galaxy S III.

For storage your precious memorable photos or videos Samsung Galaxy S III is available in 16, 32 and 64GB internal memory. With such massive storage user can easily save 1000s of songs, videos, android apps and other data. Beside that a micro SD slot is also present to further increase the storage capacity.

The most interesting and useful tool is the "S Voice" recognition tool. This enables users to operate the Samsung Galaxy S III on voice commands. As a new user it is not simple to run it on "S Voice" commands but it will be handy once you get familiar with it. Samsung need to enhance the S Voice tool for better response as it seems legging at times.

Internet connectivity with Wi-Fi is great for connecting nearest networks. Galaxy S III becomes a very helpful companion with its GPS and AGP-S support on travelling. For navigation it also contains a Digital Compass.

Samsung Galaxy S III has 2100 mAh batter which gives more than 10 hours of talk time. Radio is great while you’re on a go or want to listen to your favorite station.

Disadvantages

Samsung Galaxy S III is one of the very few smart phones which can be said “Perfect smart phone”. So far the disadvantage seems is the bigger size and other is the missing dedicated camera key. Beside these two points it’s an excellent smart phone.
