Nokia X1-01 Review

For the past few years we have seen that lots of cheap dual SIM phones are releasing in the market and due to this reason Nokia has introduce Nokia X1-01 phone. Although Nokia X1-01 is not the first dual SIM phone loaded with lots of features. Nokia C1-01 is also dual SIM with variety of features but Nokia X1-01 is a low priced dual SIM phone which will definitely get attention in the competitive market.

Nokia X1-01 has great music capabilities. The Nokia X1-01 has two great music features which are music player and loud speaker. Music player can play really high quality track and speaker is really loud so user can enjoy music all round his home in full volume.

Nokia X1-01 is available in four different colors which are Red, Dark Grey, Ocean Blue and Orange. Nokia X1-01 has the ability personalizing Dual SIM and remembers the settings for up to five separate SIM cards. Each SIM cards can be personalized with a dedicated name and preferred call. User can also give SIM card its own logo, music signature and ringtone as well.

As far as Nokia X1-01 functionality is concern it has not much changed so if user is not novice to Nokia phone than user can easily navigate the device and even if user is novice than also can easily use Nokia X1-01 due to its simplicity.

Overall Nokia X1-01 is simple and easy to use handset with good functionalities and less budget phone. Nokia X1-01 can be easily shared among the whole family with the support of multiple phonebooks. Nokia X1-01 gives tough competition to Dual SIM devices available in the market and is sure a winner.

The phone build is pretty strong. X1-01 front is taken by the 65K-color TFT display. The display measures 1.8 inches and it has 128 x 160 pixel resolution. The build quality is pretty decent and certainly better than the price tag suggests.

Advantages

• Although Nokia X1-01 is not a very compact size handset but still user will feel quiet comfort to hold it. Also because the back panel of Nokia X1-01 is curved which make easier for user to hold the device.
• The keys in the keypad are all smooth and flat.

Disadvantages

• There is no Ambient light sensor or no setting support for the screen brightness.
• Nokia X1-01 display has poor viewing angles.
• It is hard to push the microSD card which is hot swappable all the way in, as the port is recessed into the body of the phone.
• Nokia X1-01 flashlight does not have much energy or effort, it cannot give the support like a proper flashlight.
• Nokia X1-01 back cover is made of plastic and it has a glossy finish which gets scratched after some time.
• There are two SIM card slots in Nokia X1-01 which are hidden under the battery which means there will be no hot swapping.
• There is gap in between the keys on the front which fills the dust and dirt.

Nokia X1-01 has a sound music player which is easy to use. User can hear favorite songs whenever get a call with support for MP3 music ringtones. With Nokia X1-01 MP3 music player user can play, shuffle and edit playlist without any hesitation. Facility of 3 dedicated keys is also given to control music. Music player can work in the background and when user is listening a track, user can view name on the home screen.

Advantages

• Nokia X1-01 has 16GB of storage and due to this extra memory user can easily store thousands of songs on a microSD card.

• Nokia X1-01 has shuffle feature which can mix up tracks and user can relax and simply sit back.
• There is an Edit option, from which user can edit favorite playlist on the go and can enjoy perfect mix everywhere.
• The sound quality through both loudspeaker and earphones is good.

Disadvantages

• Nokia X1-01 music player can't move files, so user will have to do that on the computer and there is no gallery application.
• Nokia X1-01 only support MP3 player and does not support any other format.
• There is no equalizer in Nokia X1-01 and there is no search facility available or filtering so user will not be able to search by album, artist or genre.
• Volume key is missing, so user will not be able to adjust volume.

Nokia X1-01 features FM radio. FM radio is a perfect entertainer for users. FM radio reception is fine and user can save up to 30 channels. FM radio has an ability to find all station in the region with its auto tune function which scans all the frequencies.

Advantages

Disadvantages

• If user wants to keep a name for station, user will do it manually as FM does not support RDS.
• Nokia X1-01 GSM radio is dual band only, 900/1800 bands are pretty wide spread, but they don't give user worldwide coverage.

Nokia X1-01 offers a Dual SIM which is superior to other devices available in the market. Nokia X1-01 has settings up to five different SIM cards and device does not compromise on battery life, music features or messaging.

Advantages

• With Dual SIM facility user will be able to choose SIM card according to user choice for calls, messages and other functions. And user can switch between SIM cards easily from call to call.

• There is an option given of "Shared contacts", with which user can see all contacts stored on Nokia X1-01.
• User will not experience any dropped calls due to strong reception and clear sound.

Disadvantages

• Nokia X1-01 is dual SIM device but it has only one calling button. If a user tries to make a call, the device will prompt user to select the SIM he wants to use.
• There is no smart dial function.

Nokia X1-01 runs on Series 30 OS. It is the simplest OS Nokia offers. Nokia X1-01 S30 OS is based on S40, but it has fewer features not plenty of features like S40 OS. Key applications built-in on OS S30 are Calendar, Contacts and music player. And the applications which are related to Personal Information Management are multiple phone books (up to 500 entries in total), Calendar, Notes, Calculator and Speaking alarm clock.

Advantages

• The home screen shows the signal strength for both SIMs along with their names and icons.
• An easily customizable list of shortcuts is given, so user will have no need to go to main menu.

Disadvantages

• There is no java application available.

Nokia X1-01 has a good battery life. Powerful battery adds attractions towards users. It provides battery life of up to 43 days on standby mode and up to 13 hours talk time if you choose to continuously talk. If you choose to play music loudly, it can provide backup for 36 hours.

Nokia X1-01 is the upcoming model of NOKIA. It is a Dual SIM card phone that remembers the settings for up to five separate SIM cards you can customize the individual settings for clear differentiation among other SIMs.

Nokia X1-01 runs on S30 software which is very simple with hardly any extra features. This phone lacks in Bluetooth functionality. No quad-band connectivity for either SIM card or no data connectivity. Also it has no RDS for the radio, no smart dialing, no camera, no Java applications, and no image gallery or file management of any kind.

But for entry level users, some may find it awesome due to its sound quality, powerful battery, and loud speaker is one the most perfect speaker any phone has. Keeping up the promise of the X Series it has got three dedicated music keys, the card slot is also outside the battery case, and keypad is also nice. One thing which is missing was the center key with the four navigation keys, but for entry level phone you can manage.

Overall Nokia X1-01 offers superior Dual SIM compared to any other phones available in the market. Nokia X1-01 is good for users who are looking for basic needs like messaging, pre-loaded games or want to enjoy music and has not many demands of camera or other functionalities.
