HTC EVO 3D carries lots of awesome features and applications which adds fun while using the device. One biggest attraction in the device is its user friendly interface. HTC EVO 3D screen is capable of displaying 3D content and has highest resolution that is available on any smart phone. Display quality is fantastic as it can display colors up to 16 million.

One more feature which user cannot ignore is HTC EVO 3D hardware. Device Hardware specifications made it one of the most powerful device in the market. Device leaves its competitors behind with its 1.2 GHz Snapdragon dual core processor. HTC EVO 3D has the Adreno 22 GPU, 1 GHz of RAM, and a whopping 4GB of internal memory.

Design

HTC EVO 3D design is quiet impressive. A huge 4.3 inch screen attracts the user. Device feels good in hand due to its nice texture and ridged pattern. HTC EVO 3D sides and top have a soft touch finish which feels like a rubber. The bottom-right side of the device has a shutter button for the camera and there is a switch too which lets user toggle between 2D and 3D modes. Four capacitive buttons are available at the front of device beneath the display along with a front facing camera.

Advantages

  • HTC EVO 3D first visible improvement is its higher resolution of 540 x 960 pixels on its 4.3 inch screen.
  • HTC EVO 3D has a pretty cool back which is all made of plastic, but the pattern of fine diagonal lines gives it texture and enhance its good looks.
  • As compare to EVO 4G, HTC EVO 3D is better in terms of color production, high contract and sharper details.
  • The addition of a camera with two lenses allows the HTC EVO 3D to capture 3D images and videos.
  • HTC EVO 3D is little heavy at 170g, but the weight makes it feel well constructed.
  • HTC EVO 3D power and volume buttons are well positioned.
  • Metallic red edging that accents the two camera lenses and dual-LED flash are also appreciated by the users
  • User might think that having a parallax barrier 3D display, negatively impacts 2D image quality, but that's definitely not the case with the EVO 3D. Device screen delivers a crisp and bright picture both indoors and outdoors as well.
  • The HTC EVO 3D also offered vibrant colors and fine details when user played back 720p videos recorded with EVO 3D's camcorder, as well as when user watched any trailer in high quality on YouTube.

Disadvantages

  • User will have to view the display at 90 degree level and has to wait for few seconds for eyes to adjust in order to view 3D effect.
  • HDMI port is missing and user need to spring for a cable that attaches to the microUSB port on the left side of the phone.
  • HTC EVO 3D camera lenses stick out from the back of the lens, so the device does not sit flat on a desk or a table.

HTC EVO 3D: The third dimension

As we know HTC EVO 3D has 3D as a bonus. There is a reason that 3D is in the name of the device. When user plays 3D content, the 3D effect on the display automatically kicks in. The EVO 3D does a good job with 3D photos and homemade videos as well. And user will enjoy gaming experience too. It is quite surprising that phone is doing 3D job without glasses.

Advantages

  • The HTC EVO 3D's screen can produce 3D images without the need for special 3D glasses.
  • LCD screen blocks light with the support of series of slits on the front which makes user left and right eyes see different images.

Disadvantages

  • 3D effect is not very impressive when it is in action. Number of times the content on the screen clearly pops out at user. It takes some time for user eyes to adjust to the movement and it can become blurring if user watch it for long period.
  • The image quality is also noticeably inferior in 3D compared to 2D.
  • HTC's implementation of the 3D technology is not as impressive as LG's. The LG Optimus 3D has a dedicated 3D menu including a 3D gallery and an excellent 3D user guide, but the HTC EVO 3D doesn't utilize something similar instead, the 3D functions aren't easily identifiable and are just in their regular places like any other non-3D Android phone.
  • 3D also has lesser functions like the lack of available 3D content is also a drawback. For example YouTube's 3D channel has limited content with many of the favorite videos uploaded more than a year ago.
  • Device is also a lacking in 3D games and apps built purposely for the EVO 3D's display.

  • One thing which is quite impressive is to watch videos or images on 3D TV with the help of device HDMI out jack.
  • HTC EVO 3D has a service of "Watch", HTC's new movie and TV show streaming service. And with the help of this "Watch" facility user can download videos and can view them immediately.
  • The LED flash was surprisingly helpful. It won't light up a pitch dark room, but it does a good job of filling in and making lower light photos possible.

Disadvantages

  • Taking images at outdoor are not very impressive. Things get drop with low lightening because they are not clear and filled with digital noise and produce distorted looking colors.
  • HTC EVO 3D photos exhibit some traditional flaws of HTC products such as corner softness, heavy noise reduction and over sharpening.
  • HTC EVO 3D shoots a 3D image with 5 mp camera and the image quality is not up to mark.
  • The photos look fine on the HTC EVO 3D screen but if user views them on PC, than it takes out all the excitement of the 3D.

Advantages

  • Connectivity is good and handles all sorts of DLNA connections and has an ability of playing media to and from devices on the network with just a couple of clicks.
  • The Wi-Fi is certainly a step up from the likes of the HTC Desire S, which had a very strange problem if you held the phone in a certain way. HTC EVO 3D is a lot better, and even a big improvement over the Samsung Galaxy S2, which is useless in mid-strength Wi-Fi signal zones in fact, it's slightly better at holding a signal than the HTC Sensation.
  • User will have a long list of options for connecting to a PC like Charge only, Disk drive (mass storage), HTC Sync, USB tethering (use as a modem) and Internet pass-through (the phone uses a computer's Internet connection). The Charge only and Disk Drive now have big, thumb able icons, which is a big ease since they are used most frequently.

HTCSense.com integration

HTC EVO 3D also has HTC Sense 3.0. HTC Sense is the device most beautiful creation as yet. HTC sense is truly an iconic feature. HTCSense.com offers features which are more than enough for free. HTCSense.com is bit heavy but if user has an updated browser than everything will work fine.

Should I buy HTC EVO 3D or not?

HTC EVO 3D is no doubt gives a lot of fun and phone itself is pretty good. But to determine which handset makes a better buy, user has to judge all plus and weak points.

Device has more plus points like its unbelievably wonderful Sense 3.0 UI and changes to lock screen will make many user to buy this device. One great facility which make user comfortable in this busy life of nowadays is of Home screen, four shortcuts are given that can drag user into a circle to launch application right away. For example user can go right into Gmail inbox, can start the camera, or fire up the phone dialer all with just one swipe without going into much details. These things save lot of time and energy. But the most noticeable feature of the device is UI thrill with application menu and it divides itself into 3D applications, Applications and Download Applications. One more feature which is remarkable is device 5 mp camera which has an autofocus and dual LED flash capability and backside of the device is covered in a matte-black finish and brings out the extremely large camera pod.

But there is a downside too, the photos look fine on phone but when you take them out on your PC, they will not look as good as they appear on the phone. There are very few minor weaknesses in HTC EVO 3D like it is relatively heavier and sometimes gets warm in user's pocket. Voice quality is not very bad but not very good either. It is not as good as expected from HTC device.

In our opinion about HTC EVO 3D is that it is really flawless device without any major problems.
